Welcome all new and returning students!

Since 2000, the Aboriginal Awareness Centre (AAC) has provided services
and programs to all students of Lakehead University and the community-at-large. The AAC is here to foster an awareness of traditional ways of life, culture, achievements, present-day issues of the Aboriginal People in Canada and Indigenous People from around the World.

The programs and services have evolved over the years from support of the Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU), Aboriginal Initiatives, Aboriginal and Cultural Support Services (ACSS), Department of Indigenous Learning and other organizations at all levels from all sectors. Most importantly, students through their suggestions and volunteerism, contribute to the development of the AAC. As a result, support through partnerships and from students, make services and programs successful.

The Aboriginal Awareness Centre is ready to serve you. I encourage you – the students of Lakehead University – to make the effort to learn, engage, and develop an awareness of Canada’s Aboriginal People.

Take the time to stop by, I look forward to meeting you. All the best for a successful school year!

Thank you Miigwech!

Director
